Goodnight Moon

Reid's first night in his big boy bed was fabulous.  He is just so proud that he's in it and loves discussing how Caroline is in a crib yet he's not.  We started the evening by disassembling his crib which was a little bittersweet, however it was time.  Next Kyle worked on assembling the bed, which took some mighty power on my part of holding some boards in place.  So tough!  Reid was such the helper as well, walking all over what we were trying to do the entire time.  ;-)  As seen in his helping out attire above, he has been very into wearing his rain boots that Grandpa and Nana got him in Canada--on the wrong feet.  Lately, when at home these have been the shoe of choice.  ???

Daddy puts the bed together and voila, it's ready...although we're not keeping it in that location.  We got him a trundle so his friends can have their own sleeping area some day AND b/c I always wanted a daybed/trundle growing up so I'd have more floor space to play when friends came over.  I'll end my run-on sentence now.

Reid's big boy room overhaul has nada done so far, but he does have a bed, bye golly!  We actually plan on moving furniture around, working on decor, etc., tonight.  Fingers crossed!

When we tucked our little man into bed this first night he requested "The Little Engine that Could" to read.  Not because of the fabulous story, but only because of the page containing food with a picture of lollipops.  He has been obsessed with lollipops (dum dums to be exact) ever since Santa left him some in his stocking.  When we first read that book and saw that there was a page with lollipops his face lit up like he had just witnessed the magic of seeing a unicorn or something of that sort...yet it was a lollipop.  Garage doors, cell phones, lollipops--it's the little things!

The time had finally come for lights to be turned off and sleeping to occur after Reid had said his adorable prayer that changes each night.  Kyle has sung both kids "Goodnight Moon" by Jack Ingram since they were little.  Tonight I sang him our little version before bedtime.

Goodnight Moon, Goodnight Stars
Goodnight old, brokedown car
Gone away, leaving soon
Goodnight Reid, Goodnight Moon.

He loves this song.  He loves his new bed.  We love him!

Oh, one more thing, when done he said, "You can leave now, Mommy" in the most straight-forward, serious, big boy voice.  Is he 3 years or 12 b/c I think they're still supposed to just LOVE having me around until about Middle School.  Aughhh, my sweet boy!
